The Slovak Queer Film Festival is a place to live life to the fullest. Freely, authentically and on your own terms – with respect for yourself and others. This is the energy we wanted to capture on the poster for the festival’s 20th edition. This year, we chose dancers Darlene and Nela as the faces of the festival. We were captivated by their love, determination, passion expressed through dance, their freedom and their unapologetic boldness. They were brought together by the ballroom scene, where they found not only an outlet for self-expression through voguing, but also a safe space to live their love authentically.

Their unique spirit was captured by photographer Michal Hradský, who also performs as DJ Peal. His understanding of club aesthetics and his eye for fleeting moments helped shape the poster’s atmosphere. It conveys both the wild energy of a party and the tenderness of a love that makes time stand still.

Makeup and styling were by Dorota Šintalová, who drew inspiration from the club scene and the American series Euphoria, known for its striking makeup and bold, expressive outfits.

Our thanks to Backstage Bar in Bratislava for providing the location for the shoot – a place that embodies this freedom and welcomes the queer community.
