„Milujem Elin!“ je jedna z prvých informácií, ktorú film prezrádza o introvertnej tínedžerke Agnes. „Stanem sa Miss Švédska!“ je jedna z prvých replík, ktorú vypustí z úst Elin, jedno z najpopulárnejších dievčat na strednej škole v malom švédskom mestečku zvanom Åmål. Je vôbec možné, aby sa Elin zaľúbila do Agnes? Je vôbec možné, aby malomestské prostredie takúto možnosť pripustilo a strávilo? Vydarený debut Lukasa Moodyssona.

One of the first things you will learn about introvert teenager Agnes is her secret:”Jag älskar Ellin” (“I love Ellin”). One of the first things you will learn about Ellin, popular chick from high school, is When I grow up I will be Miss of Sweden”. All this in the faraway Swedish town Åmål. Is it even possible for Ellin to fall in love with Agnes? And can this small town accept such a possibility and come to terms with it?
Lukas Moodysson uncovers the birth of lesbian love, along with the world of teenagers full of abuse, power plays and yet bursting with sensibility and confusion, all of the characteristics of growing up.
