David Kato was Uganda’s first openly gay man, fighting on behalf of ‘Kuchus’ - LGBT people of Uganda. The film follows David and his fellow activists at the forefront of ongoing struggle to repeal homophobic laws in their country and at war with boulevard media. With the new ‘Anti-Homosexualty Bill’ and vicious newspapers publishing photos of gays on front pages, calling for their death, their work gets more difficult and dangerous, but they refuse to give up. Then one night, the unthinkable happens - David is murdered in his home. This shocks the whole community and traumatises their way forward. Multi-award winning documentary, Call Me Kuchu depicts the last year in the life of the courageous man and is a heartbreaking, but inspiring call for action. A luta continua!
